Homosexuality Not A Crime Anymore stated the Hon’ble Supreme Court upholding their Individual Rights and Right to Privacy
After the August 2017 ruling of the Hon’ble Apex Court that every individual has a fundamental right to privacy, which is a part of their right to life, the Hon’ble Apex Court reiterated the same while pronouncing the judgement decriminalising intercourse between consenting adults of the same sex which was previously an offense under section 377 of the Indian Penal Code. The Constitutional Bench held that that the right to privacy was fully applicable to the LGBT community as well and the highlight of the Judgment was the passionate remark by the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India Mr. Dipak Misra stating “I am what I am, so take me as I am. No one can escape from their individuality.”
